Making a difference in the lives of youth with special needs!
Hello Friendship Foundation Community! We are so excited to share our very first blog post with you and hope you will enjoy reading about programs and stories of our amazing kids. Summer has a way of bringing people together to laugh, play and relish the sunshine. Camp Got Friends is one of our most popular programs. We invite kids of all ages to partake in a week of fun-filled social activities, such as cooking and science class, art projects, yoga, pet therapy and field trips to Knott’s Berry Farm and Medieval Times. Our theme days add a fun twist for our campers to express themselves creatively by dressing up as superheroes, wearing crazy hair, Hawaiian & western day, and splash around in water slides! With the support of generous organizations, such as Bark, National Charity League and Lakers Youth Foundation's basketball legend, James Worthy, we succeed in making a difference in the lives of each one of our kids. Our super volunteers, camp counselors and staff work tirelessly each day so that every child can take home the memories and friendships they made at Camp Got Friends. Our programs foster a safe environment of acceptance, care, and growth opportunities for kids with special needs. We believe that this is what makes us unique from any organization in the South Bay. Our programs are specially designed so that kids with special needs have an opportunity to develop their talents while learning to build lasting friendships with their peers. There is always something to look forward to at the Friendship Foundation, so stay tuned for the inside scoop about our upcoming events! -- Nina Patel, Managing DirectorRead more
